Sheriff Hutton trainer Mick Easterby makes a rare raid on Wincanton tomorrow when the in-form Minster Glory bids to extend his winning sequence.
In the twilight of his career, and little more than a month away from becoming a teenager, Minster Glory is currently showing the zest of a youngster.
The 12-year-old has won his last four starts, two over fences and two over hurdles, his latest success coming at Leicester on Monday.
The handicapper is hot on his tail, however, and, due to go up 18lb in future hurdle races, it is no surprise that the wily Easterby is aiming to strike while the iron is hot. A 7lb penalty hardly looks enough to anchor Minster Glory in the South West Racing Club Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle.
The Hamilton Litestat Novices' Hurdle has cut up overnight to only five runners, the pick of which promises to be Wintertide.
Previously trained by Richard Fahey, the seven-year-old is now with Charlie Mann, and his already a winner this season. Shaping well when falling at Cheltenham on his latest start.
Paul Nicholls and Ruby Walsh, a formidable partnership, can win the Hamilton Litestat Handicap Chase with Commanche War Paint.
The six-year-old has been in cracking form this season, winning two of his last three starts.
Hughie Morrison is always a trainer to have on your side, Flat or jumps, and his Starzaan should not be overlooked in the Pertemps Showcase Handicap Hurdle at Market Rasen.
A useful novice last season, after winning on the Flat for Paul Cole, Starzaan looks fairly handicapped and he carries my Nap vote.
Thursday's tips:
