A MAN found with serious head injuries in a York street was fighting for his life in hospital today.
Police today confirmed they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and that it was not being treated as suspicious.
The man has not been named, but has been described as "local."
He was rushed to Leeds General Infirmary after being found unconscious in St Paul's Square, off Holgate Road, at 11.20pm on Friday.
He had suffered multiple injuries and underwent surgery last night.
Police praised the Evening Press for its coverage on Saturday of the incident.
Detective Inspector Steve Taylor said: "We were very impressed with the response, thank you to the public for their help. About 90 per cent of it was as a result of the Evening Press article."
