Pocklington's young side, with an average age of only 21, stuck to their task in enterprising style to beat a strong Driffield 'A' team 36-17.

Driffield's side contained a number of players who have been regular players in North One this season and the visitors looked as though they were going to run away with it, taking a ten-point lead in the first quarter.

Pocklington were under severe pressure but they worked hard in defence, with prop Matt Webber and flanker Scott Littlefair outstanding.

Teenage fullback Charlie Allen opened their account with a penalty and then Littlefair burst over to close the gap to two points at the interval.

Driffield again attacked strongly at the start of the second period but Pocklington held firm and overwhelmed their opponents as the half progressed.

Excellent passing took play to the left corner and when the ball was swung back right, number 8 Dan Wilson dummied over for Allen to convert.

And when Pocklington again attacked down the left they once more switched play and right wing Rob Slater dived in for Allen to convert.

Wing Tim Nixon and fullback Allen caused all sorts of problems with their strong running down the left and when Allen made another mesmerising break, centre Toby Shann was in support to touch down, Allen converting.

Pocklington's determination shone through as they soaked up a period of Driffield pressure, but it eventually told and the forwards drove over.

However, Pocklington were determined to have the last word and Littlefair stretched out to score from a back row burst, Allen adding the final conversion points.
