Malton and Norton won 62-15 at home to Cleckheaton second string filling the gap caused by Wakefield Cougars having conceded their scheduled Yorkshire Shield tie to Malton.
After a tetchy start by the home side it soon became apparent that Cleckheaton had bitten off more than they could chew.
Malton took an early lead with tries from Carl Muscroft and Alan Aitken before Cleckheaton had got out of the starting blocks.
An easy victory seemed possible and far too many Malton players became lax in their efforts and began playing as individuals.
This allowed Cleckheaton to get back into the game and record two scores of their own to make the contest more even before James McKay added to Malton's tally before the interval.
However, Malton soon put matters right.
With Dallas Simpson showing his scintillating form from fullback, Malton's attacking flair prospered in the second half.
Tries came at regular intervals and with forwards and backs showing the skills being nurtured on the training ground soon ran up an unassailable score.
Some of the handling between both forwards and backs was mesmerising as a plucky Cleck side were run ragged.
Further tries for Malt came from Simpson (2), Ryan Lonsdale, McKay, Andy Mitchell, Phil Ryan and substitute centre George Mosey, who impressed greatly in his first start at this level.
Will Barber took over the place-kicking duties and converted six of the ten tries scored.
Before this fixture Cleckheaton had only lost twice this season and were looking for a fixture to test their strength.
