With reference to the Stereophonics review at Sheffield Arena (November 10), can I ask if music reviewers for the Evening Press are sent to concerts against their will? This is not the first time I have read comments suggesting that I have been at a completely different venue to the reporter.
Sunday night's concert at Sheffield was one of many for me, a regular music fan, and not the first time I had seen the Stereophonics, whom I rate highly.
Without nit-picking at the review printed I find it hard to agree with any of it - Kelly Jones I don't believe was playing for himself and I wonder if anyone else thought the set was over-expensive and that the band had become "too big for their boots"?
As for factual information, Stuart Cable - the band's former drummer, was not "sacked" but left the group amicably and Kelly Jones publicly announced as such some time ago. He added that the band would not be the same without him but the line-up of shows would go on with a "stand-in" drummer instead - so as not to let the fans down.
Not the action of someone "too big for his boots" but quite admirable I feel.
As for the music and night overall - I am proud to say I took along my husband, father and 12-year-old nephew for the experience and a fantastic night was had by all.
Keep it rockin'!
