MY sympathies lie with Jo Haywood after her brush with a BMW driver recently (November 11). I have been subjected to dreadful driving on the roundabouts of York, especially on the A1237 ring-road.
I have had the side of my car stoved-in at the A59 roundabout by an old man who accused me of hitting him, despite evidence to the contrary.
A few months later, a woman Peugeot driver forced me off the road at the A19 roundabout.
She continued to drive on and I was so incensed that I followed her - just to face her with what she had done. She also refused to admit she was wrong and was not interested in any damage she may or may not have caused.
Perhaps if every roundabout had the same system of onward direction there might be fewer accidents at these junctions. Failing that, I can only conclude that traffic lights at the busiest ring-road roundabouts might obviate some of the problems and cut down on road rage.
