DAVID Aked is right in saying that many drivers abuse the lane markings at the Grimston Bar exchange in order to jump the queue when travelling towards the A1079 or A64 westbound (Letters, November 8).

However, he is wrong in thinking that more road signs will have any effect.

There are already plenty of clear markings on the road surface and at the roadside, and those who travel this route daily will be well aware that most of the offenders turn off to Elvington, Dunnington and so forth, and are obviously locals who are queue-jumping and cutting in deliberately.
