YORK City Knights are hoping to add to their international pedigree by capturing Scotland starlet Damian Reed, the Evening Press can reveal.
Talks are also ongoing with star men Richie Hayes, who has been contemplating retirement, and Chris Smith, though no decisions have yet been made.
The club are also chasing the signatures of two of last season's impressive young recruits from the amateur game, Carl Hughes and Neil Mears, though neither is likely to turn professional until they have fulfilled their ambitions with the British Amateur Rugby League Association's Great Britain set-up.
Leeds-based Reed was Gateshead Thunder's club player of the year last season after finishing top try-scorer with 18 from centre.
The former Leeds Rhinos junior was then picked for Scotland's European Nations Cup tie against Ireland last month.
"We can confirm we are in talks with Damian Reed," said Knights chief executive Steve Ferres.
