POLICE were this afternoon investigating a suspected firework attack on two First buses in York.
The scare shocked passengers travelling in Huntington Road, near Bell Farm, at about 6pm last night.
Pete McCarthy, head of service delivery at First, said several passengers on both services heard a "big, loud bang".
He added: "It frightened everyone to death.
"It was like a brick being thrown at a window, but the likelihood is that it was a firework."
Mr McCarthy said the bus was only slightly damaged. Nobody was injured.
Early reports had suggested the damage may have been caused by a firearm.
But a police spokesman confirmed they examined a window and it was consistent with firework damage, probably caused by children.
