WE did remember them. Hundreds of people took part in simple, poignant services of remembrance around Yorkshire yesterday.
Once again, the Second World War veterans paid tribute to their fallen comrades, alongside generations too young to have known the horrors they endured to secure our freedom.
Unhappily, as the ongoing bloodshed in Iraq demonstrates, the world remains in conflict. Those young soldiers who lost their lives fighting Saddam Hussein's forces are a reminder of the continuing courage and commitment of our armed forces.
