HOW much longer will it take the highways authority to acknowledge the need to amend the road signs leaving York on the A1079 Hull Road towards the Grimston Bar intersection?
Many inconsiderate motorists, including bus and HGV drivers, ignore the existing, minimal, directional signage and queue jump up to the traffic lights at the by-pass intersection using the inside lane.
They then cross lanes and either take the exit to the A1079 or, more dangerously, take the exit to the by-pass for Leeds.
It is quite clear to the drivers who wait patiently in the lane allocated for their exit at the Grimston junction what needs to be done to ensure road safety. There should be extra direction signs closer to the traffic lights near B&Q.
These signs need to be explicit in denoting which lane is for which exit at the junction and that drivers should get and stay in lane.
A serious accident is waiting to happen at this intersection.
