YORK City stormed through to the second round of the FA Cup after a tense penalty shoot-out victory over Barnsley, writes Dave Stanford.
Confused? Don't be.
Ahead of this Sunday's real deal first round cup-tie between the Minstermen and Barnsley at Bootham Crescent, the Evening Press offered City manager Chris Brass a brief respite from his match preparations.
We challenged Brass to a game between City and Barnsley using the new EA Sports FIFA Football 2004 game for the PlayStation 2.
Fortunately for City, and in a good omen for this Sunday's clash, Brass proved flinger-clicking good and guided City to victory.
Bizarrely, Richard Cooper was the Minstermen hero, donning the goalkeeping gloves and saving two Tyke spot-kicks before Graham Potter, who now plays for Boston, stepped up to drill home the decisive penalty.
Potter's blast gave City a 6-5 victory over their Second Division opponents after both sides remained scoreless over 90 minutes and then extra-time.
