GUY Fawkes' stock is rocketing. The man who could have destroyed the Mother of Parliaments - and much of London too, according to new research - should be regarded as a hero, says historian Terry Deary.
Guido has long been held in grudging admiration by his home city. He was even nominated as York's Millennium Person of the Past. But is the man indirectly responsible for the destruction of York's phone boxes really a suitable idol; or is his reputation being blown up out of all proportion?
