Stockton-on-the-Forest Primary School has been awarded the Quality Skills Mark for the second time. The school was assessed in a number of areas including overall teaching, policies to make standards better, teaching methods and the inclusion of parents.
Head teacher, Jane Nellar, said she was delighted at being given the accolade again. She said: "The award has only been around for a few years so we must be one of the first schools to get it for the second time."
Di memorial awards
Teachers are being urged to nominate inspirational pupils for the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Awards. The national awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of young people and recognises the contribution they make to their school, their family and community. Open evening
Harrogate College will be holding an open evening next Wednesday, from 5.30pm to 8pm, to give people the chance to meet tutors and find out more about the college.

Building bridges
An extension to Poppleton Ousebank School will be opened by the director of education at the City of York Council, Patrick Scott.
The extension links the former junior and infant schools and will be officially opened on Friday.
Citizenship scheme
Schools are being invited to enter the BT Schools Awards Scheme and win £2,000 to carry out a citizenship project. More than 200 prizes are on offer and three schools will receive £10,000 to spend as they wish. The deadline for entries is November 14. For details visit www.bt.com/education/schoolsaward
Sponsorship plea
Specialist schools could benefit from £350,000 of funding being offered by the Co-operative Group. The group is giving schools the chance to apply for sponsorship, which will also include £10,000 a year for two years. Information can be found at www.specialistschoolstrust.org.uk
