THE windy weather failed to deter a pair of steeplejacks who climbed more than 150 feet up one of the tallest spires in York.
The two steeplejacks were carrying out work on the spire of St Mary's Church, in Castlegate, which measures 47 metres or 154 feet. They used ladders to climb to the top then ropes and a bosun's chair to pull themselves up and down the building.
The photographic survey by Edinburgh-based Northern Steeplejacks marks the start of a programme of maintenance work on the building over the winter months by York Museums Trust.
During the summer, the church was used to house the popular BBC Walking With Beasts exhibition, which closed last Sunday.
