NESTLE Rowntree Rugby Union Club won convincingly 38-13 at home to Scarborough 3rds, who beat them by 40 points last season.
Number eight Jim Baldwin powered over for a converted try. Scarborough replied with two penalties, but tries from lock Rob Sellers and centre Gavin Pender gave Rowntree a 17-6 lead at half-time.
Fly-half John Atkin soon extended the lead with a try in the corner. Centre Craig Norris put over the conversion from the touchline, the first conversaion he has taken.
Norris celebrated with a try of his own, Sellers got his second try and Atkins a third conversion before Scarborough were rewarded with a converted consolation try in the final minutes.
Aussie hooker Jason Morgan was man of the match. Flanker Steve Lott played his last game for Rowntree before he moves south.
