SNOOKER giant Steve Davis was on cue in York today to set the scene for the big tournament coming to the city next month.
He will be one of 48 of the world's top players potting for the Travis Perkins UK Snooker Championship at the Barbican Centre from November 18 to 30.
"It makes such a difference to come to a beautiful place like York," he said today.
"It gives the players the opportunity to appreciate the city's many attractions."
This is the third year in succession York has hosted what is the second biggest tournament in snooker's calendar.
Six times world champion Davis, who has also won the UK title four times, was in York to publicise the coming championship.
There will be a full story in tomorrow's Evening Press.
