NEW Earswick All Blacks begin their Fred Marshall Senior Cup quest on Saturday needing to turn the tables on old enemies Hunslet Old Boys.

All Blacks - without a home cup-tie in over a year - have been drawn away again at this first round stage against the side who beat them in the final of the White Rose Trophy last season.

Old Boys also pipped All Blacks to second place in division one last term and have beaten them again in the senior division this season on their way to seven wins from seven games.

All Blacks spokesman Simon Malarkey said: "They've always been close games. They needed extra time in the cup final and there's not been much more than six points in it in the last few meetings. We won one last year and they won two and they beat us again this season."

All Blacks, who finally got back to winning ways last week after four straight defeats, will be without unavailable trio Dan Wellard, Nigel Tyreman and Lee Nelson, while Jamie Daniel (groin) is a doubt. But Alan Pallister and Mark Boitoit are available again and Dave Severs is back in contention after a long lay-off.

York Groves also go on the trophy trail as they visit old foes Wyke in the Pennine League's Shipley Trophy.

The Terriers, relegated from PL division four last term, are enjoying their best start to a season for several years, having lost only once in division five so far.

And although Wyke remain in the tier above, they are yet to win in four league games and the York side are confident of causing a preliminary round upset.

"We have been out of action for the last few weeks and are eager to return to competitive competition," said spokesman Ian Colley.

"Wyke are old adversaries and are currently in the lower reaches of division four and this should make for an interesting encounter.

"We have been playing with confidence and coach Simon Moat is expecting to come away with a good result."

Selby Warriors have been handed a tough Shipley Trophy tie and must bridge a two division gap if they are to progress.

However, they, like Groves, have lost only once in PL division five and will go into the game confident of causing a shock against division three outfit Rotherham.

PL division five leaders York Acorn 'A' were scheduled to entertain lowly Bank Top Harriers in the league.
