WIGGINTON Grasshoppers beat Selby Olympia WMC in a nerve-jangling penalty shoot-out which decided an exciting York FA Sunday Senior Cup second round tie.
Olympia took the lead after 15 minutes with a goal from Chris Harkins, a lead they held on to until midway into the second half when John Alcock equalised.
The game went into extra time and still the deadlock could not be broken despite Lee Wadsworth starring on the Grasshoppers' left flank.
The first nine penalties of the shoot-out all resulted in goals, but the final Olympia penalty hit the bar and went over to give Grasshoppers a 5-4 penalty shoot-out triumph.
Derwent United proved too strong for New Earswick and ran out convincing 5-0 winners with goals by Neil Wilford (2), Darryl Craggs, Nicky Cass and a penalty from goalkeeper Lee Rushworth.
Severus striker Mark Woodward (pictured right) notched five goals as his side overcame Volunteer Arms 7-1. the other Severus goals shared by Neil Ducey and John Lake.
Ainsty Panthers took a first half lead against Nestl Rowntree when Tosh Read converted a penalty but by half-time Simon Kehoe and Adam Wash had put Rowntree ahead.
Ainsty levelled just after the interval, Mark Willoughby seizing on a goalkeeping error, but in the final quarter Rowntrees took the upper hand and goals by Andy Dawson and Matty Wain gave then a 4-2 win.
Nestl Flag took an early lead at Thorpe United in a game well refereed by Mark Horn. They held the lead until 12 minutes from the end when Gavin Clamp equalised with a free-kick from outside the box.
There was worse to follow for Flag when Adam Garner netted a penalty winner in the final minute.
Burton Stone were hit by the Dear brothers of Kingsway Riders in the York FA Sunday Junior Cup.
Martin Jackson lobbed the Kingsway 'keeper from 20 yards to open the scoring, but by half-time Kingsway were in front through Alfie Dear and substitute Neil Richardson.
Kingsway added further goals with a free-kick from Leighton Dear, a close-range header from Adrian Dear and a cracking 35-yard shot by Rudy Dear to give Kingsway a 5-1 win.
Nick Hilton fired Inland Revenue into the lead over Firkin 103, who managed to equalise midway into the second half. But Mark Lund's 80th-minute penalty saw Inland Revenue progress to the third round.
Selby Olympia Reserves, surprise winners over Yorkshire Herald in the last round, rallied from 2-0 down against Hambleton with goals from Adam Pearson (2), Craig Anderson (2), including a penalty, Stuart Shackle and Andy Addison in a 6-3 victory.
