AN own-goal gave Leeper Hare York and District League high-fliers Malton Bacon Factory, who were reduced to ten men after their goalkeeper was sent off, a 1-0 win at division one side New Earswick in the second round of York FA Saturday Senior Cup.
Bacon Factory applied the early pressure, with Simon Collins shooting wide.
New Earswick's Dave Lynch forced Bacon Factory's 'keeper Lee Rushworth to make a great save down by his left-hand post, but then Bacon Factory went ahead when a clearance by New Earswick's Jonathan Smith finished up in his own net.
Early in the second half Tony Robinson missed a great chance to equalise and then Paul Stimpson also blasted wide after being put through on goal.
Bacon Factory's 'keeper was sent off by referee John Whitehead for handling the ball outside the penalty area.
Being a man short seemed to spur Bacon Factory to greater efforts and a 35-yard shot by Nicky Drew forced ex-York City 'keeper Neil Smallwood into a fine save.
Pocklington Town won 2-0 at home to Bishopthorpe United, Mark Marr opening the scoring after 15 minutes following a cross and Rich Millett pouncing on a loose ball in the box 20 minutes from time.
A Chris Johnstone goal in extra time saw Wigginton Grasshoppers won 2-1 at Hamilton Panthers, who had two players sent off.
Panthers had the better of a goalless first half but had a player dismissed early in the second half. With 15 minutes remaining, though, James Tose put Panthers ahead from the penalty spot.
With time running out Tom Coates equalised from the penalty spot and Johnstone got the winner for Grasshoppers in extra time. Panthers finished with nine men when they had their second player sent off for dangerous play.
Chris Burgess scored as Dunnington, always in command, won 1-0 at home to Nestle Rowntree. He brought the ball down, turned and shot into the top corner.
Graham MacDonald scored the crucial spot-kick as Huntington Rovers won 4-3 on penalties after their tie at home to Copmanthorpe had ended 2-2 at the end of extra time.
Copmanthorpe took the lead after 22 minutes from a cracking free-kick by Terry Hibbett, but by half-time the home side were level thanks to a goal with a left-footed shot from Paul Downes.
In the second half a Kevin Martin shot inside the left-hand post put Huntington ahead, but within five minutes Alan Partington equalised when he lobbed the ball over Huntington's 'keeper. There were no goals in extra time.
Man of the match James Siddle netted twice, as did Mark Scoreby in Haxby United's 4-0 win at home to Kartiers.
