AS PASSENGERS flew on Concorde for the final time today, Yorkshire Air Museum bosses were still hopeful they might provide a home to one of the redundant planes.
Tears and champagne were flowing as the supersonic jet set off from New York to Heathrow on its last passenger journey, with 100 invited passengers.
The plane was due to touch down in London at around 4pm.
BA will be making an announcement soon about what will happen to its seven Concordes.
The air museum at Elvington is one of 12 locations shortlisted earlier this year to become a home to the plane.
Director Ian Reed said today: "The arrival of Concorde would be a massive boost both to the museum and to York tourism generally."
