OL' black eyes is back: musically he's found his form again and he has tongue firmly wedged in cheek.
There's the out-and-out humour of the opener What Do You Want From Me?, a love song for trailer trash ("got you a trailer about the size of Maine"); the self-mocking of Between High School & Old School; the irony of The Song That Didn't Rhyme; and the rocking Detroit City about when he was gigging with Iggy and Ziggy, "the Kid was in his crib. Shady wore a bib. And the Posse weren't even alive." I loved Bye Bye Baby for the sound, the obvious mass-appeal single track, and I'm So Angry or Backyard Brawl for the harder-hitting release. There's also the slower tracks of love gone wrong, especially This House Is Haunted, which is, frankly, bizarre - and so Alice Cooper!
