THREE men have been arrested for fighting in a York street.
They were arrested after a large fight in Walmgate, an area police and Safer York Partnership are currently trying to clean up.
Police said the fight developed after an argument between two men outside the parade of shops close to the junction with George Street.
Sergeant Andy Farrar said: "It was quite a large fight, with 15 people involved, and three arrested for public order offences."
A witness said: "I wondered what I should do, if I should call the police, but it is always the same there anyway. It was particularly frightening for the old people, lots of the shops were still open, so there were lots of pensioners, doing their shopping, buying their papers and things, when all this is going off.
"It's always the same, but it is scary, and often you daren't even say anything for fear of having your windows put through. But sometimes you just have to say something, because otherwise they are never going to do anything about it."
