MANY family bibles and books of daily prayers used by farmers and other employers were diligently inscribed with family events, especially births, marriages and deaths.
These are of great interest to family historians trying to trace their ancestors. Unfortunately, many of these books have been lost but, in an effort to preserve the information inscribed in them, I am collecting copies of the transcriptions which I am holding on behalf of the East Yorkshire Family History Society.
I wish to hear from anyone who has a bible and would be willing to share the information with others of a similar name - often a distant, long-lost relation, especially if the bibles are connected with the North and East Yorkshire or Cleveland areas. Copies of inscriptions, preferably on A4 paper or requests with a stamped, addressed envelope, should be sent to this address.
