STAR of the York City Baths Club show in the Kingston-upon-Hull 'B' Grade gala was Oliver Wilby.

He returned with a full set of 12yrs medals - gold in the 100metres backstroke, silver in the 100m breaststroke and bronze in the 100m butterfly. He was also fourth in the 100m Individual Medley.

James Rogers (11yrs) was York's other gold medallist in the 100m butterfly. He took bronze in the 100m IM, fourth in the 50m freestyle and picked up a speeding ticket in the 100m backstroke. Both boys have recently moved into the YCBC 'A' squad.

Victoria Graves (13yrs) took silvers in both the 50m freestyle and 50m breaststroke with a fourth place in the 100m freestyle and sixth in the 100m breaststroke, while Anna Chaplin (13yrs) had a silver in the 50m butterfly, bronze 100m butterfly, fourth 100m backstroke and fifth 100m freestyle.

Willow Greenwood (11yrs) took silver in the 50m backstroke, bronze 100m backstroke fourth 50m butterfly and sixth 100m freestyle. Alex Lumley (12yrs) had a silver in the 50m freestyle and fourth in both the 50m backstroke and 100m freestyle.

There was bronze in the 100m IM and 50m freestyle for Rachel Webster (10yrs), who also posted a fourth in the 50m backstroke and sixth in the 50m butterfly. Laura Hunter (14yrs) had a bronze in the 100m breaststroke and fourth place in the 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle.

Claire Kilmartin (13yrs) was fourth in both the 50m backstroke and 50m breaststroke and sixth in the 50m freestyle, while Katie Hunter (12yrs) was fourth in the 100m breaststroke and Charlotte Mason (10yrs) fifth in the 50m breaststroke and sixth in the 50m freestyle.

Personal best performances were achieved by Oliver Wilby, James Rogers, Rachel Webster, Willow Greenwood, Claire Kilmartin, Alex Lumley, Victoria Graves, Katie Hunter, Sophie Hunter, Laura Hunter and Charlotte Mason.

YCBC swimmers also brought home seven gold, six silver, two bronze medals and 105 personal best times from the Yorkshire Winter Championships at Sheffield.

Top performer was 13-year-old Alice Sunderland who was victorious in the 100m freestyle, 100m butterfly and 100m backstroke and added a silver in the 200m individual medley.

Hannah Petts (12) also struck gold in the 200m IM and 100m butterfly, with bronze in the 100m breaststroke.

Andrew Burns (10) was first in the 200m IM and second in both the 50m butterfly and 50m breaststroke.

Sophie Calpin (13) took gold in the 100m breaststroke while silver medals came from Sophie Glasby (11) in the 100m backstroke, Michelle Moffatt (12) 100m freestyle and Rachel Eastaugh (12) 100m backstroke.

Phillip Graves (14) was the bronze medallist in the 100m butterfly.

York's other finalists were: Anna Atkinson-Smith (10), Oliver Crabb (10), Alex Fowler (11), Fiona Siddall (13), Chris Burns (13) and Andrew Fowler (14).
