MARTYN Turner opened for Clifton 'A' with a 180 for 16 darts in York John Smith's Men's League division one.
But another super 16 darts from Mick Willsden and top legs from Chas Ramsden, Heath Scaife and Kev Walton meant Shepherd took the next five and on to win the match 6-3.
Rich Plummer had his finishing hat on with 111 for 18 and 110 in the pairs which helped Bay Horse secure the aggregate as Saddle won the match 5-4.
Ray McInally (19) and Daz Hawcroft (180) pushed Poacher to a 5-4 win over Dringhouses but not before Alan Shipley made his mark.
Neil Cawood (20), John Mooring (5 x 100 and 1 x 140), Mark Hartley and Dave Mason played well as Cygnet 'A' beat Flag 'A' 7-2.

In division two Craig Wedge (19) inspired Osbaldwick to beat Old Ebor 6-3.
John Gatenby won the opener and then partnered Andy Baker to take the decider and give Institute the points with the extra point by just 14 at Flag 'B'.
Kev Pallister excelled as Green Tree 'A' got their first points with a 6-3 win over Slip 'A'.
Tony Martin-Baz McLaughlin won the decider for Swan against Holgate, whose Derek Hudson chipped in with a 180.
Steve Thompson hit a 180 as Cueball took the last four legs to beat Cygnet 'B' 5-4.
Kev O'Hara (180) gamed in 18 for Bay Horse 'A' in York Phoenix Open League division one encounter with Cygnet.
Well backed by Rich Corner (20) and Dave O'Hara (180), Bay went on to win the match with an 8-1 scoreline.
John Quantock-Phil Good were Phoenix's last-game match-winners at Pack, while a 20-darter from Steve Parkinson got Leeman off to a fine start only for Slipper to take the rest with Garry O'Roagan starring.
Howden had their match against Mitre won within the singles with Andy Edkins and Mick Harris recording 21-darters. John Pickering was Mitre's only singles success.
Paul Botterill (21) and a 128-bull finish from Daz Gray inspired Volunteer to the win at Huntington 'A', whose Steve Cowley stood out.
A good performance from Hospital Social Club's Steve Rice steered his team to victory over Ebor, while Bernie Smith's 22-dart opener inspired Crescent 'B' to the win over Huntington 'A'.
In division three Crown's Martin Pears gamed in 22 as they recorded a 7-2 win against Bay Horse 'B' and Mount bounced back from 4-2 down to take all the pairs and the match.
Milly Mountain did well for Indoor Bowls who were slayed by Reindeer, while Colin Birkitt was Clarence's only singles winner at Yearsley, who had Dave Johnson doing well.
Jim Hawksby starred for Beeswing in their defeat in York John Smith's Mixed League at Leeman 'A'.
With scores of 140 and 100, Hawksby gamed in a superb 16 darts but it was Phil Smith-Julie Judson, who secured the match points for Leeman.
Another 16-dart scorer was Barry Noble who inspired Slipper 'B' to the win over Cueball. Noble partnered Doreen Johnstone to seal the win, while Cueball's best came from Michelle Britton.
Dave Smith (21) and an excellent 18-darter from Mark Hartley (123, 140, 140) steered Cygnet 'B' to victory against Slipper 'A'.
Leeman 'B's only point came via Toni and Derek Smallwood at Cygnet 'A'.
Death of Gene Wright
York darts has lost a true gentleman with the death of Gene Wright.
He played for several Acomb teams, mainly Turf Tavern, Crystal Palace and recently Acorn Sports.
He will be sadly missed.
The players and officials of all the York Darts League offer their condolences to family and friends.
The funeral will take place at York Crematorium on Friday, October 24 at 2pm.
