York RI Ladies made the best possible start to their York Badminton League division one season with a 9-0 home win over newly-promoted Market Weighton.
Heather Powell and Joyce Petch hit good early season form to record three straight wins for 90-9.
YUSC Ladies visited Pocklington in division two and were good value for a 9-0 win.
Li Zhang and Sheila Mackarel put in the best Staff Club display with three straight wins for 90-19.
Clifton 'A' travelled to Rowntrees in men's division one and scored a good 8-1 win. Kev Davison and Daniel Woolfson were Clifton's top scorers with three wins for 90-24. Mark Barker and Phil Grant took the Confectionery consolation with an 8-15 15-11 15-0 win over Phil Sinton and Richard Mackintosh.
Tadcaster opened their men's division two season with two convincing wins, a 9-0 success over YUSC followed by an 8-1 over Knavesmire.
The best display came from Phil Zealand and Leon Young who took 90-36 in the Knavesmire match, while Paul Rogers and Brian Bell took the Knavesmire consolation with a 15-13 10-15 15-12 over Alan Ward and Michael Gilbert.
Drax 'A' got their mixed division one season off to the best possible start with three wins.
The reverse fixtures against their 'B' team yielded 6-3 and 7-2 victories, while they also scored a 9-0 home win over Rowntrees 'A'. Phil Brunyard and Julie Smythe took the 'A' team plaudits with six wins from six rubbers for a two-match total of 200-115 against their 'B' team colleagues. Brunyard and Smythe also top-scored in the Rowntree match with three straight wins for 90-32.
York RI Tuesday/Thursday 'A' opened their mixed two account with a close 5-4 home win over Riverside 'A'. The match was tied at 4-4 going into the final rubber in which G Hunt and S Maddison clinched the home win with an 8-11 win over Geoff Oxley and Sue Sharp.
Easingwold visited YUSC 'A' in mixed three and prevailed 5-4 in a tight encounter. A Monk and M Hourston swung the match in the visitors' favour with a 12-15 15-7 15-7 win over Andy Brown and Rachel Adamson.
Selby Jubilee 'A' entertained Rowntrees 'B' and just lost 4-5 in an exciting match. Neil Richardson and C Frost were the best Jubilee pair with three straight wins for 99-32, while Steve Andrew and Joyce Palmer sealed the win bonus points with a two and ten over Pete Lund and Lynn Dawson.
Tadcaster's mixed team continued their club's good start with a 6-3 away win over YUSC 'B'.
Mike and Gill Gilbert played well for Tadcaster and took the best rubber of the night with a 15-12 12-15 15-12 success over Li Zhang and Lim Eng Kiat.
Fulfordgate 'A' beat their 'B' team clubmates 6-3 in a mixed six encounter played at Burnholme School. Matt Hobman and Maureen Medlar took three 'A' team wins for a total of 99-44, including a 10 and nine over Ruth and Alan Roberts, who took two 'B' team wins. Mark Winfield and Sue Jackson played well together in their first 'B' team match for the club.
