YORK ACORN ARL Under-9s played their best game of the season to beat Oulton 24-16 with hat-tricks from Jack Anderson and Oliver Hardwick.
Anderson and Charlie Abby were joint men of the match with good defensive performances coming from Tim Stubbs, Anderson, Hardwick and Abby.
Karl Read scored both Acorn Under-10s tries in their 32-8 defeat at the hands of Stanley Rangers. Highlights in a disappointing Acorn performance were the tackling of man of the match Tim Winn, Robert Leatham and Ryan Gallacher.
Despite having just 11 players, Acorn Under-11s won 26-18 at Redhill.
They even went down to ten men when Darren Jefferson went off with a dislocated thumb.
But that could not stop them from recording a fine with with tries by Sam Orange (2), Callum Hannigan and man of the match Adam Hardwick (2). Goals were kicked by Kyle Brown, Orange and Hannigan.
Despite losing 30-14 to Hunslet Parkside, Acorn U-11s did manage to put some possession to use and scored tries through Nathan Potter, David Magson and Daniel Whittaker.
Man of the match was Grant Spain. Acorn included three new players in the team and wilted and let in 14 unanswered points in the last 10 minutes.
