CITY of York Ladies worked hard to share the points in a 2-2 home draw against Deeside Ramblers in the North League.
York attacked from the start, taking the lead after two minutes when Sally Sleightholme picked up Mandy Nesbitt's through ball to score with a crisp shot.
Ramblers, newly relegated from the National League, cut through the York defence to equalise on eight minutes but York soon regained the initiative when Paula Clough and Sleightholme set up Karen Howells who scored with an angled shot.
York 'keeper Dawn Hopkins then made two fine saves, before Ramblers equalised again just before the break.
Both sides enjoyed spells of pressure in an open second-half, but neither were able to break the deadlock, the draw being a fair result.
In division two of the Yorkshire League, City of York Ladies II also drew, 2-2 at home to Northallerton.
York were twice in the lead with goals by Steph Pearson and Becky Raper but were unable to clinch victory after Northallerton equalised each time.
