York Rugby Union Club Under-16s kept their cool to score a 46-10 win over West Park Bramhope in a niggly game at Clifton Park.
After falling behind to an early try, York levelled with a touchdown by flanker Callum Cook.
West Park regained the lead, but by half-time York were 22-10 up with tries by prop Chris Woolley (2) and No 8 Matt Turp. Alex Rogers kicked a conversion.
York virtually sealed their victory from the restart when skipper Tom
Bewick collected a poor West Park kick-off and waltzed through a static
defence to score.
From then on the visitors lost the plot, but York responded to aggressive tactics by their opponents with further tries from Turp and Bewick and one from scrum-half Henry Appleton. Rogers and Jacob Hunt put over a conversion each.
