Heworth GC was literally on a high after a superb performance at Driffield GC.
The Heworth pairing of five handicapper Duncan Bruce and Bernard Mennell (9) won the second East Riding Alliance fixture of the winter programme at Driffield. They carded an 11-under-59 to win by two shots from Brough GC professional Gordon Townhill and playing partner Bill Wilcox.
That victory mean that after two of the ten Alliance events, Brough and Heworth are joint leaders on 259 points.
Past master
THERE was a double celebration for York GC's Doreen Kendrick.
She totalled an impressive 39 points to win the autumn meeting of the York and District Lady Past Captains' Association staged at Malton and Norton GC, where she finished two ahead of the host club's Pat Duggleby.
Then, shortly afterwards, Kendrick was confirmed as the Association's new captain.
Kelly's high
ALLERTHORPE Park GC's October Cup - a greensome stableford competition - was won by Gordon Kelly and Steve Sutton with 39 points, one ahead of the field. Christine Floyd and Chris Hyde won the ladies' prize with 35 points, five ahead of their nearest rivals.
Handy Lyall
FULFORD'S Paul Lyall, playing off 24, won the Lloyd Cup for players with handicaps from 18-24 and then went on to capture the October Medal with a four-under-par 68. Now his handicap has been trimmed to 22.
Sweet 16
HEWORTH are 16 points clear of nearest rivals Malton & Norton after four events of the Cross Trophy.
