THE York and District Table Tennis Association has started the new season with a list of rule changes.

Matches will now be played up to 11 instead of 21, with the winners decided on a best of five games basis.

Each player is also only allowed to serve twice instead of five times and may only towel down after six points.

In the deciding game, the changeover will now be when the first player reaches five points and the expidite rule will come into effect after ten minutes unless both players have reached nine points.

The league's new sponsors are Integrated Utility Services but a number of changes have already been made to the handbook.

Division one 'team four' has become Railway Ass and will play home games at York RI on Thursday night. Nigel Reeson (tel 769383) is their secretary.

In division two, 'team six' will be Nestl Rowntree 'A', while changes in division three include Poppleton 'E' taking the division three blank space home night on Wednesday.

'Team five' York RI 'F' and 'team seven' York RI 'E' will also play at home on Wednesday nights with 'team 10' Nestl Rowntree 'B' at home on Tuesday evenings.

In division four, Sessions 'C' have taken that spot and their home night is Wednesday, which will also be the case for new 'team three' Poppleton 'G'.

The league are looking for a new tournament secretary, summer league secretary and social secretary.

Anybody interested in the positions should contact Clive Warley on 01904 705872.
