Ruby Legend, bred by former top Malton jockey Edward Hide, can prove to be a gem at Newcastle tomorrow.

The Mary Reveley-trained gelding seeks to win the Renault Vans Handicap on the same course where he has twice been successful in the past.

The latest of those victories was at the beginning of the month when Ruby Legend had two lengths to spare over The Loose Screw and Parknasilla, a winner since at Southwell.

Although that win was gained over ten furlongs, Ruby Legend did score over tomorrow's distance of a mile on the corresponding race on this track last season.

With Tony Culhane, who knows him so well, again in the saddle, Ruby Legend is napped to extend his course record.

Culhane, who is enjoying another fine campaign, can also score on Camberley in the Renault Clio Van Classified Stakes. Paul Cole's six-year-old has been in good form and looks sure to run a big race.

Snow's Ride, who broke his maiden tag in good style at Chester last week, has every chance of supplementing that win in the Renault Vans Conversions Handicap over two miles.

Willie Muir's three-year-old relished this distance on his latest outing and a 5lb penalty may not be enough to prevent him completing a quick double. Ricky Mullen will again be on-board.

The Renault Kangoo Van Handicap over five furlongs offers Kings College Boy a good opportunity of getting back in the winning groove.

The three-year-old, trained by Richard Fahey, scored at Nottingham during the summer and has run well in defeat since. A creditable second at Chester last week, he will be suited even better by the Newcastle course.

At Salisbury, Greenwood could prove the answer to the Weatherbys Bank Rated Handicap.

A previous winner on this course, the gelding chased home Rudi's Pet in a claiming race at Sandown last time and was subsequently acquired by trainer Pat Murphy, who gives smart apprentice David Kinsella the ride on him tomorrow. A bold bid is anticipated.

Hayley Turner is making great strides this season and the Newmarket-based rider can add another winner to her tally, courtesy of Holly Rose in the Axminster Carpets Apprentice Handicap.

Turner scored a three lengths success on the four-year-old at Yarmouth last time and there is every chance of an encore here.

The Racing Welfare Doreen Rackham Appreciation Stakes looks a good opportunity for the speedy Polonius, a winner on her debut, to make it two out of two. Dane O'Neill will be aboard Henry Candy's two-year-old.
