NATIONAL Park bosses were today deciding whether to press for a major study into possible health risks from RAF Fylingdales.
The North York Moors National Park Authority may ask the Government to fund an epidemiological study in the area around the early warning station, aimed at establishing if there are any clusters of diseases such as cancer.
Officers have recommended the move in the wake of growing concerns about the possible impact on health of the base's radar system. The worries have been fuelled by reports about raised levels of certain cancers near an early warning station at Cape Cod in America.
