Baltic King is napped to reign supreme at Ascot tomorrow after highlighting his well-being in Yorkshire earlier this month.
Hughie Morrison's useful sprinter lines-up for the £20,000 Riggs Bank Rated Handicap and is strongly fancied to show his rivals a clean pair of heels after a cracking effort in the Portland Handicap at Doncaster's St Leger Festival.
Baltic King finished third to Halmahera in that super-tough event, and deserves even more praise, given the fact that he was forced to start from an unfavourable single-figure draw.
Switched from one side of the course to the other to combat his starting position, he did remarkably well to finish so close, which saw him one place in front of the likewise poorly-drawn Quito, who has since won the Ayr Gold Cup.
Baltic King has plenty going for him tomorrow and, with Richard Hughes in the saddle, is selected to emerge triumphant.
Ryedale trainer Richard Fahey can also get his name on the Ascot scoreboard, courtesy of Definite Guest in the Mail On Sunday/Tote Mile Handicap Final.
A York winner in mid-summer, Definite Guest confirmed himself to be still in great heart when finishing sixth, from a wide draw, in a red-hot handicap at Newbury on his latest outing.
At his best when coming off a fast pace, Definite Guest will need luck in running, but in Paul Hanagan, he has the right man on top to deliver him late and fast.
The opening Cumberland Lodge Stakes, sponsored by Tommy's (The Baby Charity), looks a good opportunity for High Accolade to end the season on a winning note.
Marcus Tregoning's talented three-year-old flopped in last month's Great Voltigeur Stakes at York, but he bounced back to his best in the St Leger earlier this month when narrowly beaten by Brian Boru.
Although not the most dependable of animals, High Accolade deserves plenty of respect in this Group 3 target.
Mandobi, who was unluckily beaten on Knavesmire on Evening Press raceday earlier in the month, can gain compensation in the Southern Electic Nursery Handicap.
Up at Musselburgh, Hambleton trainer Bryan Smart can hit the bullseye with recent Catterick winner Atlantic Ace in the Royal Scots Classified Stakes, while Ballyhurry can supplement his recent Ayr success under Willie Supple in the Close Finish Handicap.
