YORK City reserves claimed their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory at Notts County thanks to goals from Adam Arthur and Christian Fox.
Fox and central defender Chris Smith both played their first 90 minutes after lengthy spells on the sidelines.
Skipper Darren Edmondson, who was expecting to feature at Meadow Lane, was withdrawn from the squad as he continues to recover from a calf injury.
Player-boss Chris Brass said Edmondson's injury had just about cleared up but the club had taken the decision not to risk him against County.
Despite missing yesterday's second-string encounter, Brass said Edmondson could still be included in the first-team squad for Saturday's trip to Macclesfield.
Trialists Andy Kelly, a defender, and striker Gary Browne both featured for the reserves.
No decision on the future of Kelly is expected for some time, as the former Middlesbrough youngster is still working his way back to fitness after suffering a broken foot.
A decision on former Manchester City forward Browne was expected today.
