WHO'RE ya gonna call? York Busters!
Staff from the Hilton Hotel, York, have pooled their talents to form a team ready to bring a smile to the faces of all who need to get a job done.
Anthony Worrall, general manager of the 130-bedroom four star hotel in Tower Street will head this new 13-person task force and, he says, he is "pawing the ground" for projects.
"We're ready to spring into action for any good cause, be it tending to a wild garden, helping to patch up schools, or applying our DIY expertise to benefit nursing homes or hospitals. Just let us know what help you want by calling our hotline at 01904 648111 and asking for Eileen Hepworth. All serious requests will be considered."
The idea of having a Hilton York Busters task force for good arose at the hotel chain's annual conference for general managers at Gatwick in June. "Unknown to us, the surrounding community near Gatwick were canvassed for help and we were formed into six separate teams for six different projects. These ranged from clearing ten years of undergrowth from a graveyard to painting four classrooms in a local junior school."
He was amazed by the variety of talent he discovered among his own staff - finding DIY people, expert gardeners, craftsmen and joiners.
