My family and I would like to say a big thank you and well done to outgoing York City Knights coach Paul Broadbent and all the players who have given their all this season.
It has been fantastic. We have seen some excellent performances. The club has achieved all and more of what it set out to do at the beginning of the campaign and all the true supporters will be proud.
Barrow, who beat York in the play-offs, were a first class team and probably would have beaten anyone on the day.
The York fans that did stay till the end of the game were treated to two late, but still great, tries and saw that the lads never gave up until the final hooter.
They more than deserved the applause that they got. If we think we are gutted, let's just imagine what the players must be feeling like.
We would also like to wish Trevor and Kylie Krause all the very best on their return to Australia. We are sure they would be welcome back at York at any time.
Well done to everyone involved with the Knights this season. Here's to next season. When's the first game?

CONGRATULATIONS York City Knights RL Club on a wonderful first season back in rugby league.
Okay, so we didn't get any further in the play-offs (do Wigan, Bradford, Leeds or St Helens win every knockout match?). I think the team have done absolutely marvellously to get as far as they did in their first season.
Thank you all the lads who have played this season, all the backroom staff, Steve Ferres, Roger Dixon, John Guilford, Gary Hall and all the volunteers that work so hard behind the scenes, for bringing rugby league back to York.
Special thanks are also due to departing player-coach Paul Broadbent. As everyone has said, he is a true gentleman. He gave 100 per cent for the club. Good luck Paul in whatever you do next.
But once again a big thank you to the lads who have put their bodies on the line all season. If it wasn't for their determination we wouldn't have got as far as we did.
Thanks, also to the fans who have and supported the team and been so vocal. We have had some excellent trips away and some really good home matches. I hope we will see you all next season, I can't wait.

Thank you very much for the excellent Evening Press reporting of news at York City Knights this season.
The tone and content of all of Peter Martini's articles does him - and everyone at the club - great credit.
