THE 90th birthday of one of York Golf Club's longest serving members, Hugh Kitchin, was marked by a special presentation.
He received a painting of the Ailsa Course at Turnberry from the past captains during Captain's Junior Day and is pictured after the ceremony with the captains and players.
Kitchin is an honorary life member of the club, which he joined in 1946 and served for many years as committee member, trustee and honorary solicitor. He was captain in 1956 and he and his friends visited Turnberry, one of his favourite courses, at least once a year to play golf.
The presentation was made while the juniors were busy putting together some good scores out on the course. The very young ones played on the nine-hole course on the practice ground.
The overall winner, for the second year running, was Victoria Crapper, who scored 43 points. Second was Tom Kneeshaw with 39 and third was Richard Stephenson with 38 points off a four handicap. Fourth was George McGrath with 37 points.
The best gross prize went to Jamie Gavin, who had a gross 76.
