YORK City will not be submitting their planning application to redevelop Huntington Stadium until October, it emerged today.
The Evening Press reported earlier this month the football club was hoping to lodge its stadium blueprint with the City of York Council at the end of September.
However, an important meeting involving all the major parties, when it is hoped agreement over the future of the running track at Huntington will finally be decided, has still to take place.
That top-level meeting of various interested parties should happen soon, according to City's stadium director Ian McAndrew.
Explaining the cause of the delay, McAndrew said architects were still working on proposals for the track and other related facilities to be developed at the University of York.
City's stadium development director said the plans had to satisfy the athletes who currently reside at Huntington and also the university.
McAndrew said: "We need to know it will get their thumbs up.
"The plans have to suit all the parties involved, and not just the football club. Once the architects have finished we hope to get everyone together at the end of the month.
"Once we have a broad agreement we can move forward together.
"There is an awful lot of good will and it is important we do not alienate anyone."
