Clifton FC were left cursing their luck as the York Sunday Afternoon Football League kicked off.
They drew 1-1 at home with AV Saville in division one but hit the woodwork seven times.
Woodthorpe also drew 1-1 with Goole side Rawcliffe while Bubwith beat Clifton Rangers 2-1 and Black Dog (Camblesforth) defeated Heworth 3-0.
In division two, newcomers Bay Horse lost 6-2 to Drum, while Cedarwood, who have also just joined the league, made a better start, beating Wigginton 3-2.
The biggest win of the day saw Knavesmire thump CB United 8-1.
