MARCIA'S recruitment of star names is paying early dividends in division one of the York John Smith's Sunday League.

They beat newly promoted Selby Olympia WMC 4-0 with the goals coming from former York City and Darlington striker Glenn Naylor (2), Mark Ford, the former Leeds and England Under-21 international, and Carl Young. Both Naylor and Ford play with Harrogate Town in the UniBond League.

A Moss goal earned Severus SC all three points at Derwent United, who like Marcia have won both their opening two games.

Volunteer Arms heaped more misery on a depleted New Earswick by defeating them 6-0 with Joe Gaughan netting a hat- trick.

Nestl Rowntree bounced back from their opening day defeat with a 3-1 win over Hounds with goals from Gavin Dickinson, McKay and Matty Ward.

Two Mark Triffitt penalties separated Deramore Arms from Blacksmiths Arms at half-time but Blacksmiths took a point through Heels and Hinds. York Nomads gifted Thorpe the lead with an own goal before Thompson rescued a point.

Turpin took the lead through Cross in their division three game only for Foy to level for Haxby Lions. Haigh restored Turpin's lead but Pugh levelled again. Cross scored Turpin's winner with 15 minutes remaining.

Tom Caldwell gave Hemingbrough the lead at Volunteer Reserves. Stu Kelly then scored twice to put the home side in front. Taylor equalised and Caldwell headed the winner midway through the second half.

Joe Smart helped himself to four goals as Fulford beat Inland Revenue 6-2, while Mark Mitchell scored twice as Burnholme beat Boot and Slipper 5-1.

A Paul Hughes hat-trick and two goals from Hamblin saw Barlby record a 5-0 win over Beeswing - all the goals coming in the second half.

Copmanthorpe's Robinson, Dent, McGuinness and Deighton were on target in a 4-2 win at Real Way Station FC. Two goals each for Ryder and Hardy helped Raskelf to a 5-2 win over Acomb Celtic.

Matthew Dunn notched both goals as Hambleton won 2-1 at Kings Arms and Shoulder of Mutton beat Heworth 2-1 courtesy of goals from Charlton and Patchesa.

An inspired second-half performance saw Burton Stone run out 7-1 winners against Castle Howard Ox in division five with goals from Baxter (3), Rudd (2) and Smith (2), after turning round level at 1-1.

Peach hit a hat-trick as Black Swan won 5-4 at Kingsway Riders for whom Barrass scored twice

Britannia beat Enterprise 4-3 in a scrappy game, Fox scoring twice, and former York City youth player Mike Murr bagged five as Wilberfoss hammered Rumours FC 10-2.
