HARROGATE Town suffered a nightmare at Gainsborough Trinity on Tuesday night, crashing 2-0 and having a player sent off.
Victory could have put Town top of the UniBond League but they were made to pay for two defensive errors.
Just before half-time Mick McNaughton sliced a clearance and Chris Hurst was left free to net Trinity's opener. Eight minutes after the interval, a static Harrogate defence allowed Chris Timons to head home.
Town striker Marc Smith and Trinity skipper Neil Allison were sent off after a scuffle.
Pickering Town will play Ossett Albion in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup after Albion won their replay at neighbouring Ossett Town, 3-1, last night
