THE daily crawl along the A1237, which frustrates commuters and visitors, must be alleviated soon with the continuing development of businesses and housing along that corridor.
The road should have been built as a dual carriageway but I suspect the cost of the Ouse and railway crossings coloured the judgement of the planners at the time. Roundabouts are too close together, and, with traffic flows, flyovers should be constructed over the Harrogate and Haxby roundabouts.
These need not be permanent structures - two have been used in Greater Manchester to great effect.
We should consider similar changes here.
