RICHARD Edwards' report about Applecroft Road and Hempland Primary School quotes Coun Derek Smallwood and the planning committee's concern for child safety, (City road rage, September 3).
More obvious is their concern for justifying budgeted spending on such schemes.
A similar proposal affecting Badger Hill Primary School is to be introduced in December.
Many parents from outside the areas have little option but to fetch pupils by car.
The inconvenience lasts for about half an hour, twice a day, for three quarters of the year. Drivers in the area are accustomed to the problem.
At Badger Hill the proposal is designed to further annoy parents by installing a platform outside the school in an area notable for flash-flooding.
This will make life even more difficult for mothers with babes in arms and younger toddlers who have to accompany pupils irrespective of car use.
