NURSES who care for the elderly in York are to explain their role at a special meeting next month in the city.
The three health visitors, who specialise in older people's health issues and are based in local GP practices, will be the guests of Older Citizens' Advocacy York (OCAY) for the meeting on Wednesday, October 1, at the Priory Street Centre.
Also speaking will be Sally Hutchinson, chief officer of York Age Concern.
OCAY helps York's over-60s to overcome many kinds of problems - including getting access to good health care.
Its chairman, Jack Archer, said: "Older people depend on good health care for their quality of life. This meeting will give them the opportunity to ask the experts about how the system works and suggest ways that things could be improved."
The meeting, entitled Quality Health Care for Older People will also include OCAY's AGM and a free buffet lunch.
It will take place in the Denham Room at the centre between 11am and 2pm, and all are welcome.
Visitors requiring lunch should phone OCAY on York 676200 to book.
