BAFFLED York City boss Chris Brass is demanding wrongs are swiftly righted after admitting the Minstermen had left their supporters short-changed.

The City chief conceded Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Yeovil Town, City's third reverse on the bounce, was a big let-down and that City had only themselves to blame.

Just as against Rochdale seven days earlier, City were made to pay for a poor first-half performance.

Trailing 2-0 at the break, City rallied in the second half and created a number of chances before conceding a third goal deep in stoppage time.

Now tomorrow's Division Three clash with Darlington at Bootham Crescent cannot come soon enough for the City boss.

"We have to make sure we apply ourselves in the right manner and give the fans something to shout about," said Brass.

"It is disappointing in that you make a six-hour journey, a lot of people have made a real commitment and we have performed for only 45 minutes.

"We have let our fans down, and ourselves, so we have to make sure we repay them on Tuesday night.

"The fans will back us if we do things in the right manner but the first half simply wasn't good enough.

"The second half was better but we have to play football for 90 minutes.

"I said that after the Rochdale match and I'm saying it again now. I hope I'm not talking about a 45 minute performance on Tuesday."

Despite the defeat, Brass is refusing to press the panic button.

"If we were playing terribly throughout then that would be a major concern but we have shown we can play football.

"Two goals were lost to sloppy defending and we have to learn quickly from it.

"We have conceded these sort of goals previously and it has happened again.

"Questions have to be asked now and it is something we are going to have to work on in training."

Brass admitted he was at a loss to explain why City failed to produce in the first half but improved rapidly after the break.

"We knew what to expect, we had done our homework and we knew they would be a high tempo team," he said.

"I think we are, but we didn't match them for whatever reason.

"We were on the back foot and they were on the front foot and why we have to wait until the second half to start playing I really don't know.

"It is something we have to nip in the bud because to be perfectly honest it is simply not good enough.

"You cannot afford to start two goals down and in our last two games that is what we have done.

"The standards which I expect of people were not matched out there.

"We have to evaluate. Fortunately, we have a home game on Tuesday and that is what we must look forward too."
