The final game at Civil Service's Boroughbridge Road ground failed to produce a fairytale finish for the home side.

But it did provide the setting for a dramatic promotion-grabbing division six victory for Bolton Percy, who swept past long-time promotion candidates Selby with a stunning 91 run victory.

With Selby sitting out the final fixture, Bolton grasped the opportunity to clinch promotion by taking the full 30 points.

Peter Atkinson hit 62, Mike Furze 72 and Henry Houseman 25 as Bolton made 201-6, with Tony Tate taking 4-72.

Atkinson then followed with 4-35 as he and John White (3-18) dismissed Civil Service for 110.

S Bailey made 26 for the home side, whose ground is to be built upon, so ending a cricketing venue which, over more than 50 years, has been the scene of some top class league cricket.

Hopefully the Civil Service club will survive this withdrawal of facilities and continue as members of the league from another base.

Champions York III suffered a surprise defeat when they failed by 12 runs to reach a modest target of 114 set by Hemingbrough.

David Sharp made 42 for Hemingbrough, who struggled to make a challenging total as Graham Mackfall took 4-38.

Mark Lonsdale then made 31 for the champions, but York found the bowling of Mal Walker and P Collins a real handful.

Leading wicket-taker Walker took 5-20, while his bowling partner took 4-40 as York were bowled out for 103.

Brian Room's 77 helped Wilberfoss to a winning 131-2 after Kevin Davidson had taken three wickets to help dismiss Londesbrough Park for 128.

Inadequate details were received from Cawood, who lost at home to Stillington. Shaun Linton took six wickets as Cawood were dismissed for 109.

Dennis North made 51 in Stillington's winning reply but the margin of victory was not stated.
