TALENTED pupils at Easingwold School have had their rich and varied skills recognised at an awards ceremony.

Many of the 1,350 pupils, aged between 11 and 18, attended the annual awards event at the comprehensive school in York Road last night, with parents and teachers.

Head teacher Carey Chidwick said the ceremony was always a high point of the school calendar as pupils, parents and teachers looked back at their successes. She said: "I would like to congratulate my staff and students for another year of excellent examination results and some outstanding individual achievements."

The guest of honour was Pauline Corrieri, marketing manager of Research Machines, a UK information technology firm that supplies software systems to schools.

As well as named prizes, 102 pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9 received a form progress prize for their academic work during the year.
