WITH reference to Coun Steve Galloway's comments about Labour's policies on anti-social behaviour (September 4), I would like to remind him that the measures introduced by Labour make it clear that anti-social behaviour is unacceptable and should not be tolerated.
The measures are targeted and funding was increased in Labour's budget for 2003/04. This year there will be five extra estate managers and an extra member of staff in the tenancy enforcement team set up by Labour.
Last spring, introductory tenancies were agreed by Labour. This measure provides support for new tenants to prevent problems occurring as well as acting as another method of tackling any anti-social behaviour.
Changes were agreed in January to exclude those guilty of anti-social behaviour from the housing list. These measures show a commitment to tackling anti-social behaviour in a targeted way with the support of the local community, as a good landlord should.
